Date: 2007-03-29

The Guidelines International Network is an international non-profit association of organisations and individuals involved in clinical practice guidelines.

Founded in November 2002, G-I-N has grown to 70 organisational members and partners representing 34 countries from North and South America, Asia, Europe and Oceania - plus WHO.

G-I-N seeks to improve the quality of health care by promoting systematic development of clinical practice guidelines and their application into practice, through supporting international collaboration.

The aims of G-I-N are:

  1. To facilitate information sharing, education and knowledge transfer, and collaborative working between guideline programmes to promote best practice and avoid duplication of effort.
  2. To improve and harmonise methodologies for systematic guideline development in existing and new guideline programmes.
  3. To improve methodologies for dissemination and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and evaluation of their effects.
  4. To identify priorities for and support research relating to guideline development, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation; and to facilitate the application of research findings into practice.

The Executive Committee has decided to apply for membership. The application was approved and agreed by G-I-N. ER-WCPT has received from February 2007.
