Migration information

The European Region of the World Confederation of Physiotherapists (ER-WCPT) provides information for migrating Physiotherapists all over the world.

The more detailed information on countries outside the European Union and the EEA-countries is provided directly by the World Confederation of Physiotherapists (WCPT).

In the navigation bar to the left you will find general information about migration, as well as the national procedures in the EU.

It is the priority The European Region of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy to assist member organisations and individual physiotherapists to exercise the right of free migration within the European Region.

According to the regulations of the EU the objective of free migration within the European Union is to ensure mobility workers. This means " the elimination of any discrimination based on nationality as regards employment, remuneration and other working conditions, access to accommodation and the worker's right to be joined by her/his family. Any national of a Member State is entitled to take up and engage in gainful employment on the territory of another Member State in conformity with the relevant regulations applicable to national workers.

He is entitled to the same priority as the nationals of that Member State as regards access to available employment, and to the same assistance afforded by the employment offices in that State to their own national seeking employment. His recruitment may not be dependent on medical, occupational or other criteria which discriminate on the grounds of nationality."

In order to pursue and fulfil the free migration for physiotherapists within The European Region the following policy has been adopted by the European Region of the WCPT at the General Meeting in May 2002 and reviewed at the 2006 and 2008 General Meeting.

You will find the Migration Policy in our Downloadsection as a PDF file.
