DETAILS | The Estonia Physiotherapy Association has no headquarter location and therefore one staff employees or employed managing director. The association holds executive meetings 4 times a year and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. The association does not hold membership in any trade union. | ||||||||||

Physiotherapy Education |

INFORMATION AND NUMBERS | The Estonian association does not have an education department. There is 2 physiotherapy school in the country graduating 15+5 students per year. Studies take 3+2 years (1 year correspond to 40 credit hours) resulting in 160 credit hours and lead to an academic degree/diploma. Whether studies allow for postgraduate education depends, please contact the Estonian association for further information. Physiotherapists are involved in both teaching and research. TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION | Professional Title/ Qualification: Füsioterapeut The title and the professional activity is not protected by the state. There are no rules of professional conduct or regulations on the physiotherapy profession determined, and no registration or licence to practice is required. However, Estonia has established a code of ethics for physiotherapists. The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Estonia is the Ministry of Social Affairs. There are sufficient employment opportunities for physiotherapists in the country. | ||||||||||

INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS | The physiotherapy services in Estonia are not determined by the profession. The physiotherapist is not allowed to determine the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself. Estonia offers mainly public physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid through the national health care system as well as privately the patient. | ||||||||||
