Headquarters
  DETAILS   The Turkish physiotherapy association has seven staff employees but no employed managing director. The association holds executive meetings (every 2 weeks) and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. The Turkish physiotherapy association is not member of a trade union.

Physiotherapy Education
  INFORMATION AND NUMBERS   The Turkish association has its own education department. There are 38 physiotherapy schools in the country with about 800 students per year. Studies take 4 years (2.540 hrs) and can result in an academic degree/diploma (Please ask the association for details). English preparatory class is required in some schools. Studies allow for postgraduate courses. Physiotherapists are involved in both teaching and research. Turkey has recognition of physiotherapy specialists.

Status of profession
  TITLE AND REGULATIONS ON THE PROFESSION   Professional Title/ Qualification: Bachelor of Science The title and the professional activity is protected by the state. The rules of professional conduct are determined directly by the state through national legislation. The physiotherapist must be state registrated and obtain a licence to practice. Turkey has established a code of ethics for physiotherapists. The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Turkey is the Ministry of Health. Employment for physiotherapists cannot be guaranteed.

Practice of physiotherapy
  INSURANCE AND PRACTICE REGULATIONS   The physiotherapy services in Turkey are not determined by the profession. The physiotherapist is in some institutions allowed to determine the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself, but generally not. Turkey offers only public physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid privately by the patient.

Twinning
  The Turkish association has not yet established a twinning program with any member country, and they have not specified whether they are interested in establishing one.
