Patients' rights in cross-border healthcare

The EU Matters WG has been following the developments of the EU  proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the application of patients' rights in cross-border healthcare.

The directive has been approved on 19 January 2011. Full text / Pdf version
A questions and answers document on the Directive which clarified the benefits had been developed in all EU languages.
Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy, Mr. John Dalli, issued a statement:
The Directive should be implemented by the EU countries within the next 30 months after its approval. The WG will follow up its implementation and possible implications for physiotherapists.
 
During the legislative process, and in collaboration with other health professions, the EU Matters WG has response to EU Commission consultation and has also participated in conferences on this matter. (General Secretary and 2nd Vice Chairman presentations)
